ABOUT

A child without proper education is like building without a proper and firm foundation. The rural villages surrounding Budaka town, eastern Uganda have limited quality educational amenities. St Clare’s Girl’s High School has consistently been seeking to fill the gap by
providing exceptional educational high school opportunities for girls. Due to the gender gap
discrepancies, the need for schools like St Clare’s is even more urgent.

Recognizing the need to provide opportunities for girls to stay in school Joseph and Juliet Rainer founded the
school. Juliet originally worked as a nurse until being elected as a member of Parliament for her district, Joseph Rainer originally came to Uganda in 1954 from the Province of South Tyrol in Italy as a missionary. He set up the Christian Children’s Fund in East Africa in 1973, and served as the African Regional Director until retiring in 1988. For many years they were committed to improving economic and educational opportunities for people in Juliet’s home region in eastern Uganda. Founding St Clare’s Girls High School was one of their many and successful efforts.

Our vision is to provide all round education that will nurture women with sound academic minds that will enable them face the challenges of the coming centuries. The School is committed to inspiring young people to develop their potential by providing them with a first class educational experience within the context of an intellectually exciting and culturally creative community.

Our mission is to equip girls for a productive role in the modern world by producing a safe, caring environment in which they can grow spiritually, academically, emotionally and socially.

At St Clares, we cherish positive discipline, facilitate learners to
develop their full potential and aim for academic excellence. We have co-curricular activities such as volleyball, netball, basketball, football, MDD, academic clubs, and other indoor games. In football, we emerged as the district champions in August 2022.  Professionals are always invited to give talks inspiring them to realize their future and purpose of life.

St. Clares is one of the few existing girls high schools in Uganda and we are proud to focus on the education of girls in Uganda.
